I hated how SAO never lived up to its potential and went downhill fast by the second half the first season, but damn if I didn't want to live in Aincrad.

Haven't seen the anime, but I sort of get it. I like when media explores that too... That some people would prefer to live in the virtual world than the real one, and what would become of society if that happened. (I remember Pendragon doing that...then felt guilty for thinking it was even remotely an appealing idea, lol.)

The only thing that would stop me is my dog. She needs love and attention! I can't give her love and attention when I'm in a fantasy world.

It's an interesting concept. I'd love to be able to explore a virtual world like that just for the experience. They are sort of trying to move in that direction with VR headsets, though they are a long way off from doing anything like that, I wouldn't be surprised if they manage it within our lifetimes.

I agree op, but then I remember the .hack series and all the reasons why absconding to virtual reality could potentially fuck me over. Still, being physically in a coma while mentally still playing the game does at times sound preferable.
