You could just write a post saying you're going on hiatus for an indefinite period. Just say it's because you have too much Real Life stuff on your plate right now if you don't want to specify it's because of depression.

I second this.

Back in 2006 I was really burned out and fed up, and deleted pretty much everything.

I came to regret that move.

I would recommend making all your journal entries private (but not deleting), turning off notifications for comms and fics (and again not deleting). If nothing else, in a few years it'll give you a snapshot of how you are now ( which of often a good thing).
