...comic fans' rivalries and loyalties don't revolve at all about studio A vs studio B Actually, in this case they do. There have been fans who are very vocal about Fox (Fantastic Four and X-Men) and Sony (Spider-Man) giving the rights back to Marvel. And part of the reason is the deals - the other studios have to release a film within a set period of time or they lose the rights, which seems to have led to a plethora of reboots and/or underdeveloped stories/characters. They are less vocal about X-Men right now, but, after X3, wow. But there are still the complaints about the mutants not existing in the MCU and no X-Men crossover (the Spider-Man crossover planned for CA3 took a lot of negotiation).
