The Thief fans were - rightly - worried that Thi4f would be a slap in the face to Thief, video games, video gamers and common decency. FFVII: The Re-Up, however, might actually be a good game. It's a different worry and a different situation.

I'm sorry, but no. Thief fans were basically saying, well before any real media was even released, that Thief 2014 (I don't take seriously anyone who says Thi4f or Teef) was going to be the death of gaming and that feminists and casuals had destroyed their hobby. This is how they operate. They did the exact same thing with Thief: DS and that was a pretty good game despite its flaws. It's really hard to take them seriously, especially when you consider that Deus Ex fans are nearly as crazy but almost all of them were at least moderately excited for Human Revolution despite Invisible War.
