I'm Utilitarian as all hell, so anything where the message is "Utilitarianism is bad" tends to bug me.* I'm also not sure how I feel about the bit where the MMC accidentally changes the FMC's skin color and this somehow makes her a coward--is the message supposed to be that living with racism makes you brave? Still, I have to admit that the stuff with the aliens on the moon was kind of clever.

*Bioshock 2 gets a pass for being great, but I still feel like I'd get along with these people if they would stop trying to shoot me for one goddamn second.

I hate the idea that utilitarianism is bad too. While there are some things I think are always wrong (torture for example), I think that keeping in mind the greatest good for the greatest amount of people is important. I hate stories, for example, where it is supposedly awesome and romantic where someone chooses to save the person they love when they have the choice between saving that person and a whole lot of people. That's not romantic. It is an understandable choice, especially under duress, but it still is the wrong choice.

I want to see a story where the person who saves their loved one at the expense of a bunch of strangers (more didn't try than "I can only carry one of you!") gets confronted by others for their choice but doesn't feel guilty, and so becomes an unlikeable character.

Oooo yah me too.

I read one where all the "strangers" were people the MC considered super important in their life, but they didnt bother getting to know any of them beyond superficial levels so for ex lost people like their own mother, siblings and even in the end their spouse and then the MC were killed all because the MC lied to themselves their whole life about deeply knowing each of the people in question, n had never bothered to figure out who they were either, but hey they got 10 million bucks to kill 10 "strangers"!

Ditto! Especially if the loved one agrees with the strangers.

*others, not strangers
