You know, people say that, but it's not entirely true. It didn't really become that show until a little while into its run, after the 2000 election, and the Sept 11 attacks, and what came after the Sept 11 attacks. Obviously the only reason it was able to become that show was because of Stewart and his skill set as a host, but it took a while.

That's interesting. I was trying to look for his first episode on Youtube but I couldn't find it, would've been interesting to see what he was like in 1999 or whenever vs. more recently.

if i recall correctly the show was definitely a continuation of kilborn's TDS except the hosts had different schticks.
