I had a similar reaction to the previous one, Ghost Protocol. I only watched that because at the time I thought Jeremy Renner running and shooting things was hot. But I was surprised by how much fun it was and how much Tom Cruise doesn't take it/himself (?) seriously. It's refreshing.

Anyway, YANA. I loved the new one too.

If you enjoyed that you should watch Ghost Protocol. It's every bit as good as this and then some.

MI is one of those franchises that you wouldn't expect to be good, but it is. The action sequences are great, the characters are likeable enough, the writing is good, and there are enough amusing moments to keep it from getting bogged down in depressing darkness.

Rogue Nation also had the bonus of Sean Harris. I don't think the director used him to his full potential (he can be much, much more chilling than what showed up on-screen), but he was still worth seeing in theaters.

I love all the Mission Impossible movies (except 2 >.>). I cannot wait to see this one.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit I know nothing about this franchise but the fact that Simon Pegg was in the last film almost made me want to watch it.

I saw a gif on tumblr that I think was from this film (of a woman in a dress kicking ass) and it was hot as fuck though, so I'm kind of intrigued.

He was in the last 3 of them, actually (MI 3-5). However, I've only seen the last two, so I don't know how big a role he played in MI3.

I remember hearing he was quite good in them, so maybe they would be worth watching.

Simon's been in three Mission Impossible movies. His character has more of a minor role in MI 3, but it expands in 4 & 5. :)

Like I said to the other anon, I honestly didn't even realize there were this many MI films! I thought Simon had only been in two. I'm glad to hear he's gotten a bigger role as the franchise has went on, though. I heard he was quite likable in them?

Yeah, I was tickled that his character got more screen time. He's basically IT/Tech support in the 3rd. But by the 4th he's out in the field being an adorable bad ass and part of the team. And he's extremely likable! Very charming and slightly befuddled. He rocks a tux quite nicely in this last one too.

Ooo, he gets to wear a tux too? That sounds promising! And Simon as IT guy is extremely fitting, though it's good he's getting more involved in the action now! I'll see if any of the films are on netflix, though I'm doubting they are. (Netflix is so weird about what it adds.)

You sounded like me after watching Edge of Tomorrow, OP. It's okay though, there's a good reason Cruise is one of those Movie Stars, he does make entertaining movies (or so I've now admitted).

Rogue Nation is pretty much a sequel to the previous one, Ghost Protocol, so you should definitely watch it.

It's extremely good, and it shows how the team got together.

I recommend watching it ASAP!!!

Also, Ethan Hunt is actually an enjoyable hero. He has flaws, he's likeable and he's not crippled by addiction/anxiety/childhood trauma/*insert tragic backstory here*

i loved the movie and was obsessed with brandt. i'm kind of curious what his position was in the cia and what he had done to establish himself as someone who's constantly side by side the director, even though the director obviously feels that he is in cohorts with hunt?
