To anyone who doesn't know the theory:

season 4 was supposed to be an original season, and because Fuller didn't get rights to SOTL, fuck continuity right?
and this being bryan fuller, who has said that all of his shows take place in the same universe, the Fullerverse, time-travel isn't that far-fetched (see: Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls)
Since there have been numerous hints about time-traveling (don't ask me to list all plz I'm not that obsessed, but there are a handful iirc - like for example how hannibal seemed to be narrating a story/fairytale instead of actual events in 3A, some offhanded comments, the teacup shattering, lecter's personal notes, will's clock drawing, blah blah blah) some fans started joking that it was gonna be a thing

I mean, everyone thinks it's just a joke but... like, if it was a thing?
a cannibalistic serial killer time-traveling who has a lot of people on his dinner list and who's totally obsessed with someone who no longer wants him? that's... that's pretty crazy scary
