Yeah I went to a conference held by Aboriginal locals in the desert near Coober Pedy to protest about a proposed nuclear dump (for OTHER COUNTRIES' nuclear waste FFS), and many people there had been affected by or (more commonly) had now dead relatives affected by the blasts/fallout D:

Ahh yes. The old "they'll never notice it. they've got too much land anyway." trap. I believe the Brits had the same thought when they decided to put their testing area here, too.

I am incredibly angry about how few people know this happened. Same goes for the difference in media interest over the asbestos victims. The mines were operated by entire towns of Aboriginal people but I guess they weren't of interest to the general public.

The numbers are so fucking horrifying that if I think about it too much my brain might just explode.
