This could just as likely be the case.

I, unfortunately, know of a RL example. An ex-friend of my brother's, someone he's known for 10 years, was busted on distribution of CP about six months ago. It took two weeks for my brother to process that information. It was a straight-up real-time performance of the Kübler-Ross five stages of grief.

My brother eventually ended up on, "Bastard's dead to me."

But even to this day, my brother questions whether the signs were there and he just missed them because he was oblivious.

The fact is, I know from experience that sometimes it takes time to process information, especially when it's about someone you thought you knew. In my brother's case, he found out from a newspaper article that his now ex-friend had been arrested and charged. So he at least had receipts.

Going by this thread, it appears receipts didn't appear until after the online accusation was made.
