I can't read manga where I don't like the art. Even really highly recommended manga.

This. I'll also forgive a lot (like bad dialog, characterization, etc) in a comic/manga if the artwork is pretty enough.

This is why I don't read a lot of action manga. Some styles are so busy and hard to follow that I'm left tilting my head/the book this way and that trying to figure out what body part is where and who's doing what, which completely ruins any attempt to follow the plot. :/

this is why I tend to watch anime instead, when there's a team of animators able to "correct" the fuckups of a lot of terribly drawn manga it looks SO much better
