Being attracted to children isn't bad? It is. Be ashamed or not, it doesn't make it not bad.

teenagers, not kids. and no it's not bad. They have all the physical parts that are designed to be attractive.

Nah, it's really only bad if you actually act on it.

This. People have their kinks, and sexual entitlement culture and the relative powerlessness of young people, means that this kink is acted on more than most, but it's still okay to have a kink, as long as you don't do anything non-consensual or illegal (like fucking up someone who's way younger than you). Do some age-play, get off on porn of 18yos who look like 14yos, whatever.

legally, they are children, and for good reason.

though thinking to yourself that teens are hot isn't hurting anybody. just please don't act on it. and I don't feel comfortable saying it's good - it definitely creeps me out. As a teen I would not have been comfortable around an adult who admitted to being attracted to teens.

DA - Ephebophilia =/= pedophilia.

Teenagers, while yes, not adults, aren't children either--and with pedophiles it's the pre-pubescentness that is attractive, a teenager would look too old to them anyway.

Bingo. It's the secondary sexual characteristics that are attractive to ephebophiles.

it's still fucking wrong

You say "wrong" like you think attraction is something a person can choose.

NAYRT

Agreed. OP seems well aware that underage = bad idea, and as long as they're not doing something stupid and hooking up with under-age-of-consent teenagers, being attracted to them isn't something they CAN control.

Hasn't been wrong for most of human history, isn't wrong now depending on which legal jurisdiction you're standing in.

Mind you, I do think there are problems with ephebophilia, but "fucking wrong" is a completely stupid and indefensible place to start from in attempting to make that case. A legitimate discussion about emotional maturity and evolving social models might be a good place to make that case from, but you don't seem like you're capable of that level of engagement.

Other things that haven't been 'wrong' for a large chunk of human history: slavery, raping your spouse, stoning people to death for adultery.

Just because it wasn't wrong in the past, doesn't mean that it still isn't wrong now. And tbh has always been wrong. There's no longer a push to have as many children before you and your partner die at the age of 30, so there's no longer an excuse for creeps like you to act on your impulses.

The reason it's wrong is because a) teenagers can't consent in the same way as a fully developed adult, and b) teenagers are still underdeveloped physically. Sex and pregnancy can lead to serious medical problems, especially in the earlier teens.

SA PS You're a fucking creep, you piece of shit.

I agree with your argument but I also have a pedantic point about life expectancy

Life expectancy being lower didn't mean that you and your partner needed to crank out babies because you were going to die young. The primary reason that life expectancy was lower in the past is actually the same as the reason you needed to crank out babies: enormously high infant and childhood mortality rates.

Re: Stuff you've decided you're not going to be ashamed off anymore

(Anonymous) 2015-08-18 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
And even then you weren't expected to crank out babies as soon as you could since people figured out there was a higher chance of survival for both the mother and the baby if the mother was at least in her late teens.
