Kind of vaguely inspired by the Chat About Ships thread from a week or so ago. I just kind of want to hear people talk about characters they like and why.

Who are your favorite characters? Favorite background characters? Oldest characters you love, newest characters you love, characters you love that no one else loves, whatever.

There are lots, but I'll stick to the Tolkien fandom for now since that is my current obsession.

Crushes:
Sauron, Fingon, Boromir, Legolas, Glorfindel, Finrod

Favorites:
Sauron, Celebrimbor, Maedros, Finrod, Fingon, Boromir, Galadriel, Elrond, Luthien, Fingolfin, Maglor

Newest love:
Probably Boromir in the sense that he's become my favorite LOTR character and I've gotten really into exploring his character and reading fics recently.

Oldest love:
Celebrimbor was probably my first Silmarillion favorite. Aragorn was my first LOTR favorite.

No one else loves:
I've only seen a little actual hate, but Celebrimbor is less popular than I wish he was.
Also Boromir gets some hate.

Crushes: Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, Thor, Stiles.

Favorites: Same as above. Loki, Charles Xavier.

Newest Love: Fox Mulder. ♥‿♥

Oldest Love: Vegeta, always!

No one else loves: Maybe some from stuff people don't know much? Most of the characters from Alive: A Story of Survival.

I can't list all of them, most of them or even a fraction of them because I've been in a lot of fandoms and develop crushes rather easily; we could be here all day.

So...you know what's coming next

HARRY FUCKING HART.

Motherfucker is slick as hell (those suits, those glasses, that hair, those legs, unf), pretends to be a proper gentleman but is always late and swears needlessly, starts fights at the littlest provocation ('rent boy'), seems to have no patience (immediately threatening professor Arnold), makes innuendo filled remarks to a boy less than half his age, named his dog Mr. Pickles (what kind of name is Mr. Pickles?!, the dorkiest name ever, is what), has a butterfly collection, insults his boss flippantly and is basically a menace to society. (That church speech, good god. What a snarky shit Harry is...no wonder he adores Eggsy so much. Which is another reason I love him; he gives Eggsy a chance at a better life and reassures him that he's good enough.)

And Eggsy, who is a doll (so sweet and caring to his sister and mother, has remained kind and thoughtful despite a horrible home life) and deserves the world. (Heart of gold, I tell you.)

Longstanding crush goes to: Kahlan Amnell for being a beautiful goddess ~~of death and destruction~~ who is far too enchanting and endearing for her (or mine, or anyone's) own good.

Vegeta was my first Big Real crush that I was aware of(six year old me had a crush on Darth Vadar but I only realise it now looking back), I just loved everything about his dumb, assholish cranky self. Like I've always had a thing for villain characters and reformed villains hit my buttons so hard it's not even funny, and Vegeta had that arc which made me love him even more. Like the Buu saga is my fave because holy shit some kind of vague character development in a stupid fighting anime? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. I just love that idiot, so, so much.

Loki and Magneto are also two old faves because of how much fun I have watching them fuck shit up, well that and there's a bit of sympathy on Magneto's end because I totally get why he holds the views he has, I just don't agree with them.

Valentine and Gazelle are my newest favourite villain duo, I just loved everything about them and the fact that they were so different from the usual fare of villains that are typically in movies, like villains not wanting to sell each other out when the good guys come a'knocking is so effing rare. But they are it, and I love it and them. Also tbh I think Samuel L.Jackson did a really good job playing Valentine and I loved how quietly menacing he was. And the ofc Gazelle was loudly menacing, and she was awesome(honestly while I do want a Kingsman sequel I am going to be sad that those two wont be in it :<).

And a bunch of others are: Steve Rogers, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Storm, Evelyn Carnahan/O'Connel, Stitch, Mulan, Marcus Bell, Natasha Romanoff, Bulma, Rochelle, Nick, Starfire, Garrus, Tali, Wonder Woman... and loads more that I can't recall atm.

Favorites: Elrond, Faramir, Hotch, Dean Winchester, Castiel, Puddleglum, Oracle, Kyle Rayner, Elisa Maza, Ned

Favorite background: Imrahil, Grant Anderson, and a bunch more. I love background characters.

Oldest: Eeyore

Newest: Bullock and Alfred from Gotham.

No one loves but me: Everyone I love in my tiny fandoms.

Elrond needs more love. He's sadly under-appreciated, at least as far as I've seen. His story is so tragic and yet he ends up so put together and as an awesome father and leader.
