Everyone on their high horses up in here, as if they aren't all drooling over Teen Wolf, Glee, and Pretty Little Liars. To name just a few shows.

I don't watch them so I have no dog in this fight, but are any of the actors in those shows (specifically the ones playing the teens) actually under eighteen? Because statistically most teens in shows are played by actors in their twenties.

Does it matter? The idea is that they're portraying teenagers. And if we want to go for actual underage, Harry Potter fans, hooboy.

I dunno, it kind of does matter if you're showing attraction to the person on screen, because your hormones are reacting to them not the fact that the script says they're seventeen.

These actors are hired because specifically they look like teenagers. Your hormones don't know the difference.

lmao @ the idea that anyone on Glee looked even halfway like a teenager

But... they're all prime examples of Dawson casting.

Teen Wolf: Youngest was 19 when it started, most are mid-to-late 20s. None looks like a young teenager.
Glee: Chris Colfer was the only one close in age and looks, everyone else were between 20-30 and looked like it.
Pretty Little Liars: Sasha Pieterse is the only one averting this as she was 14 when it started, but the rest? Between 20 and 30 and, once again, looks like it.

Do they look good? Sure, but most people do know the difference between a young teenager and a adult even if the clothing and make-up departments try to make them look younger. Not quite the same as being attracted to someone who looks 15-16 years old.

Thank you, I had to go to work but that was what I was going to say. I honestly can't think off the top of my head any teen shows that use adult actors where the actors actually LOOK like teenagers.

I don't drool over anybody in those shows.

DA

I'm reminded of all the ~40-yo women practically drooling over Daniel Radcliffe in Equus and sneaking in cameras and shit.

Yup! Don't even get me started with all the Snarry shippers running around here.

Ah yes, drooling over 20-30 year olds playing teenagers is totally the same as drooling over actual 15-16 years olds. It's not like the latter are still developing or anything...

I don't watch those shows specifically because teenagers or adults that look like them do not attract me. It creeps me the fuck out, so there goes your theory, honey.
