If you've got friends and you just don't see them much, then get together with them. If you don't have friends, work on making new ones. There are a million and one excuses for not being social, but the consequence will keep being loneliness.

Look, I get it. I hate going out, I dislike committing to plans, and all my friends live far away. But when I get lonely, that's just the price I pay for not making new connections with people. It sucks, and it's difficult, but it can in fact be done. Join a gym, pursue an interest (I've been considering the local amateur astronomy club or weekly tai chi meetup group), go to church (or a bar, but church is cheaper), and talk to people.
