Do you think that most people just see snow and yell "FROZEN!" like some kind of involuntary compulsion?

I know I do.

Given Frozen (and its merchandise's) prevalence, I would assume it was probably a reference, yes.

Personally, I burst into song.

Hi, one of the dreaded Norwegians here, and yes, that's what we do too: going out, seeing snow; singing out aloud. Go out skiing; the hills are alive with the sound of music. Going out pumping oil: singing praise. Going out killing whales; singing along with them. (A sad song in that last case.) Posting comments on the Internet; singing every word:

You'll sooon get uuused to iiit,
if youuu come over heeeeere, my frieeend!

I was really hoping for a special snowflake comment. I feel let down :(

(Anonymous) 2015-08-18 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
You just made it!

Woohoo!!

Oh, my sweet summer child!

(Anonymous) 2015-08-18 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
We don't have snow here, either, and I think it makes the little girls go even more apeshit because snow is such a foreign concept.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
If it's tacky and has no personal significance, why do you care what other people associate it with?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a little surprised OP listed Frozen as a reason for not wearing a tacky pendant she doesn't care about. I would think "tacky/ don't care" is enough.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think snowflakes have become that associated with Frozen. They're a pretty generic winter symbol. You should be fine wearing your necklace, I doubt most people would make that connection.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
While I don't think that would necessarily be what most people jumped to, I don't blame you.

In fact I feel your pain because I've always wanted to name a future child after my grandmother, Elsie. So...

I don't wear mine either even though it's an expensive white gold one my folks got me as a birthday present. It makes me sad because I love it so much but at the same time I absolutely hate Frozen and all it's hype.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
it seems tacky anyway and you're better off
