yes, but tends to mean something isn't the same as definitely happened.

I'm not saying PK can't be an abuser or hasn't been one in the past. but as a third party onlooker, I am very uncomfortable branding someone a definite abuser because the masses (on the internet, even) decided it was true.

yeah, pirating hurts artists.

But pirating is categorically different from stealing and I don't see why this is so hard to get. When you steal fruit from your neighbor, the fruit you stole ceases to exist in your neighbor's yard. Pirating it not like that. It is enjoying entertainment without paying the creator and without the creator's consent, which is bad for the creator*, but it doesn't make their work disappear. Please do not treat them like the same thing; it's incorrect.

*overall trend. there are many cases in which people would not have paid them either way. for example, as others have pointed out, sometimes people like to try something before they buy it, especially if money is tight.

ETA: again, I'm not trying to say it's alright to just give the middle finger to people who make art. But something culturally needs to change before they're easily paid what they're worth (and a boost to the overall economy wouldn't hurt).

Actually, yes, it does. By legal definition. If it doesn't eliminate the original item from it's owner, it's pirating, not stealing.

I agree with this.

A long-term relationship requires a lot of commitment. For me at least, if I've committed that much of myself to someone, I would be willing to make some choices about my body with him in mind and not just myself. That's a CHOICE, but if I were with someone for 12 years? Yeah. I'd make that choice, and I would hope my partner would too, for the sake of the relationship.

Not saying the only solution here is for OP's gf to not get the tat, but it's worth thinking about.
