If that were true then all we'd have to play is shit on Kongregate. But last I checked the industry was doing pretty well for itself.

Also, that study doesn't differentiate between sales-that-will-never-happen and people who buy later to support the artist. More to the point, it lumps games in with other forms of software, and doesn't differentiate between the wild west of mobile gaming and more mainstream. Without some citation legwork on your part, though, throwing a 30-page PDF at me not very useful as an answer either way.
