I still don't like her.I know we're all supposed to prostrate ourselves and beg forgiveness because she came out. Doesn't mean she wasn't any less annoying or manipulative. I hated the way she used the whole 'oh woe poor young innocent little me, sniffle, bat eyelids, give me sympathy' schtick to stay in, it really grated. I just wanted her to have some self respect. And I'll admit it bugs me that she got a paper column out of it rather than, you know, the *actual* winner.

Oh please. The only reason I waited until I was 15 before binging on internet porn is that we didn't HAVE the internet until I was 15. And when we did get it, it sucked because it was 1993.

Gossip Girl, Dan/Blair, She's All That AU where Dan is Laney and Blair is Zach.

Or, better yet: Gossip Girl, Dan/Blair, Anastasia AU. In canon, Blair was literally a princess for a hot second there & Dan was a cater waiter, so in my eyes, it's a perfect fit. Naturally, because the world hates me, there's a Gossip Girl Anastasia AU...with Blair/Chuck. And something tells me it doesn't use the differences between old money & new money as it present in canon between the Bass family & the other three rich families to flesh out its world building, so it's basically useless.

When DNA proved that Anna Anderson was not Anastasia I wrote a LTTE to the Washington Post (that was published! Very exciting)--their article was *riddled* with errors. They'd named Anastasia as "the heir to the throne" (hellooooo Salic law!), they said she was 14, they misidentified her in the group photo (it was clear they'd mixed up Marie and Anya--the eyes are what's different, Marie had those huge eyes).

Around the time That Movie came out, I adopted a cat from the shelter. I was torn between the names Tatiana or Anastasia but decided on the former (full name: HIH the Grand Duchess Tatiana CeeBeeGee-ovna Greenskaya; nickname: Tatia). The reason: even though Tatia's personality is closer to the real Anastasia's (quirky, bratty, emotional), I didn't want to have to deal with "Did you name her after the moooovie?" Because then I'd be forced to launch into a diatribe about how offensive I found the idea of that movie--how that family's relatives are still alive, and there's this movie that totally romanticizes the brutal execution of these children. It just really bothers me.

Bottom line: OP, I feel you.

I've had a few; couple foursomes as well. They're fun, though they can be awkward. Even more than one-on-one sex, they benefit from a little alcoholic lubrication to lower everyone's inhibitions a bit. It helps get past the awkwardness to just have a good time. It also helps if you all get along well, so you can laugh at yourselves and give yourselves permission for a couple false starts until you find a position that everyone enjoys, stuff like that.

Not OP, but YES. I ship Reese/Finch like burning, but their platonic relationship is just so intricate and developed that it is just as satisfying to watch/read as the slash. Starsky/Hutch is the same way.

(It's interesting to note that both relationships are very heavy on the protective front. They are all willing to die and/or sacrifice themselves for their other half.)

What fanfic were you reading?

I completely agree with you about how the ship was handled in canon, but that's not at all how it was in the hundreds of excellent XF fics I read. Yeah, there were some fics that made Mulder and Scully incredibly generic as lovers; some people in the fandom refer to that type of shipper as a "barbie shipper." But of all the fandoms I've been in, TXF was the one that did, by far, the best job of balancing the ship with the plot with the characters as individuals, and not erasing complexity for the sake of romance.

I have a very very vague memory of hearing once that hearing that "goodbye" makes people subconsciously check out a bit and pay less attention to the movie or whatever. Like a, "okay, the important thing is over" signal. No idea if that's true or not, but it's one possibility.

Finally, a sensible opinion about biscotti. They're a travesty of a biscuit.

I'm scared of fandom in a way I never was before now it's moved to tumblr and there's this whole "your fave is problematic" movement.

So many people are so determined to be right, and will twist the facts, and repeat their false arguments over and over so they're the good guys, or at least in their own eyes and their easily led followers.

Thy don't care that they've woefully misinterpreted what happened. They just want that rush of smugness. They believe they're right with fundamental fervour. They can never back down or else it would mean they were the bad guy all along. That means they feel justified in any sort of attacks on other people, bullying, doxxing, getting their followers to harass people. Because they're the good guys, right?

On LJ I never felt scared just of being in fandom, in case the mob decides to randomly turn. The fear was always that the outside world would find your fanfic/art and freak out because they were unfamiliar with the concept. Nowadays the most likely and most terrifying attacks come from within - ironically, just as parts of the outside world have started to be okay with fanfic.

I don't think anyone has really answered your question fully but in non-sexual contexts a "fuckboy" is an asshole with a certain set of behaviors and characteristics, similar to the way a "nice guy" is associated with certain behaviors.

The whole "If something falls in the forest" thing makes me laugh. Even if one discounted the fact that no forest would be totally empty of animals, sound is, according to physics, a vibration of the air. The vibration still happens even if no one heard it. You just have no one to report that it happened.

To be fair, that one is necessary.

Mini Wheats, Carmen's fruit-free muesli, Sanitarium Granola, both the old hardtack that needed soaking and the modern stuff. Both of the second two companies are Australian. I will also occasionally eat good old porridge.

On a whole though I don't eat cereal much, and even when I do, almost never for breakfast, either because I'm not awake for "breakfast time" or I'm not in the mood. However that might result in, when I am in the mood, having porridge for dinner, usually with savoury add-ins. The Mini Wheats are almost always for snack reasons.

A song here or there every few months. If it's not something I'd go out and buy a whole album for, I might download it.
