12- Really? I'm completely the other way with the contest thing. I can't do Hoenn's contests to save my life but Sinnoh's are really easy for me.
But I definitely hear you on the third gen love.

Third Gen gets no love. D: I actually liked the idea of rivals who didn't hate your guts. Plus you get two of them. I only wish you could have fought Brendan/May with the final form of their starters though.

Agreed, I don't understand why the third gen gets hated on so. Maybe a lot of fans disliked the third gen Pokémon. Either that, or they resented having to buy a GBA.

I thought you could fight them with their fully evolved starters eventually? Or did I imagine it? In any case, though, having Barry and Lucas/Dawn was awesome, but it would've been bette if you could've fought them both.

Some of the criticisms I've heard about third gen was that it didn't introduce enough new things to the series, that the rivals were lame, contests sucked, no day/night and that they didn't like that Team Aqua and Team Magma. I liked them, though. Team rivalry, both with good intentions, gone very, very bad.

I think people were disappointed because second gen loaded on a whole boatload of new features. It was the first to introduce breeding, shiny Pokemon, specialized Pokeballs, held items, berries, the clock, day/night, and day-specific events, plus the go back to Kanto gimmick.

Third gen brought good things too, they're just not as noticeable, especially to the non-competitive players. Natures, Pokemon traits like Truant, Overgrow, etc., better bag organization, RUNNING SHOES, and TRAINER'S EYES are ones that I like in particular. It also tried to incorporate a little more story into the games, as bare bones minimum as it was. (No story, however, makes me as sad as the Cubone's mother in first gen)

What I'm really hoping for, though, is another Sliph Co.-like dungeon, packed with evil trainers and stuff. That was epic.

Bah, I think people were just spoilt by the second gen and then they kind of ran out of things to add without the innovation of the touch screen that the DS introduced. I think you've definitely hit the nail on the head, there.

The introduction of a REAL STORYLINE is what made me fall in love with Hoenn and I loved how they actually started to pay more attention to the humans in the game.

I personally want to see a game where you play as a Team member for one of the teams. That would ROCK.
