I cried at Leo Bloom's speech in defense of Max Bialystock at the end of The Producers. Even I confused myself at that!

Well, I've watched The Lion King so many times, I sometimes get teary eyed when The Circle of Life starts. Some kind of weird automatic reaction.

I teared up during The Zodiac when Gyllenhaal's character saw Arthur Leigh Allen and had that tense standoff/stare off. D:

I tear up when the Star Wars opening crawl + theme music comes on. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I wholly didn't expect it, but I was choked up during, oh, the last thirty minutes or so of Chronicle. It was supposed to be a scary descent into madness, but it's just a sad story of an abused, depressed kid.

I don't think Do You Want to Build a Snowman was supposed to be a tearjerker (except the end of the song when the sisters' parents die, that obviously was supposed to be), but it made me think of my distance from my own sister.

Yeah, I teared up during that scene too for the same reason. Made me feel really silly lol.

The ending of Gone Girl.

When Ford kills the deer in (I think) Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

I watched An Unexpected Journey and sobbed through all the happy, silly parts the other day.
Fili and Kili. Enough said.

I haven't recently watched The Hobbit, but I remember sobbing during the opening of An Unexpected Journey. Basically if I hear the LOTR 'theme' I will start to cry. I even cried during the opening of Lego LOTR because of the music + cute graphics.

There's something wrong with me.

That stupid emotional music. Making me emotional.

My friend and I were drunk when we went to see it at the outdoor cinema for the first time, and we were clutching each other in a giant beanbag, holding a bottle of wine, and silently crying because we are mature adults. The Shire theme feels like home and happysad. Happysad makes me cry more than plain sad. It's a thing.

Awww, haha, I feel you. (At least your tears were silent! Some people are not good at hiding their sobs, which is even more embarrassing.) The Shire DOES feel like home, and the saddest stuff is not always straight up devastating, it's stuff that you have mixed emotions about.

Like, even though The Hobbit films had tons of issues, I was sad to see them end because it meant no more Middle Earth on the big screen.

For me seeing The Shire again was worth sitting through those films. (Not to mention the Thorin/Bilbo stuff, but you know.)

Yeah. So many issues, but they're still part of something I love, so I have to love them. It's the rule or something. The cast and the characters do not hurt.

Oh I ugly cried loudly at the end of the last one. Also outdoors. In front of lots of people.

I'm glad that even for all their faults, the movies had such good music and the scenery was so pretty. It wouldn't have been right not to honour Tolkien's long, rambling descriptions of the scenery.

The cast was so, so good. I feel like there wasn't one misstep with the casting (no, not even Evangeline, though I wish Tauriel had a different storyline), it was the writing that caused problems. The cast did their job well.

At least you weren't the only one. I bet at least a handful of people were crying with you!

Absolutely, they were a joy to listen to and there was plenty of visual porn. (And you're right, the visuals are important considering Tolkien's views on scenery.)

I want gen fic of Tauriel and Bilbo going on adventures and getting drunk together while they mourn. It makes me sad that they both went off alone after losing people they loved.

I was still making hiccupy noises when we left though, because I couldn't deal. I think I was also sad there were no more movies to come. It was like seeing the last HP movie. Now what do I do with life?

Random fact: I almost bought a horse from the people who trained the horses for LOTR. He wasn't in LOTR, he did TV, but it still would have been cool.

There IS a fic where Tauriel went to Bilbo, but she was pregnant. And pregnancy stories are mostly not my cup of tea, so I skipped that one. I would love to read something like you mention, with those two discussing their loses and maybe learning more about each others cultures along the way.

:( I know the feeling, yea. For so long we've had Tolkien movies to look forward to, or at least some hope that more would come. (Like with The Hobbit, before it was officially announced.) It's weird to think its all over.

Ooo, I thought this said, "I also bought a horse" and I was going to demand pictures. That's so cool! I bet the horse was lovely, and obviously excellently trained. Too bad it didn't work out. (You should've bought the horse then moved to New Zealand. Live the dream!)

Why do good things have to end? I mean, I will never be prepared for remakes of anything I love, but can't there just be more? I will probably watch them even if they're terrible.

He was a lovely horse. Just a bit too chilled out for me, actually. I was doing lots of competitive riding requiring a horse with good turning capabilities and quick feet (think, rally car) and he was a little bit safer (like a family station wagon).
I've never done international travel with a horse! I assume it's horrible. They're big drama queens. They have a surprising range of facial expressions for an animal that doesn't have eyebrows.

for some reason I auto-tear up when watching scenes that cause me secondhand embarrassment, I can't think of any specific scenes but if a character is doing something embarrassing I start crying lol
