As I've gotten older I feel the same. (And frankly, I don't always feel like I have the best grasp of the English language either.)

Still, even though I know I couldn't do any better I find myself skipping a lot of fic. (That doesn't stop me from reading way too much, but I'll almost immediately pass on something that a few years ago I would've given a chance.)
