They were casually in it for the action and now that you've got to search for stuff since p. much everything is subbed, they don't bother.

Yep, if you're willing to look, there's tons of great action/scifi/fantasy/mindfuck stuff reminiscent of Toonami and [adultswim] glory days, and a good chunk of it is even dubbed (dubbing has come so fucking far, it's amazing), but you have to dig a lot. Hunting through the wilderness of anime for specific shit is a lot different than having it spoonfed to you via a network that always selects from the same genre (often from the same studios, too). I miss the ease of it, too, but I'm happy that the stuff I like still exists.
