Re: "Don't teach me not to get raped, teach men not to rape"

I think the reason people focus on men in the discourse is because - and correct me if you have any statistics to the contrary - more men are rapists than women.

So? That just condones women who rape. "Sure women may rape, but not nearly as often as men!"

And taking into account women raping men by forcing them to penetrate them, men and women rape at the same rates.

Men made to penetrate: 1.7%
Women raped: 1.6%

It doesn't in any way condone women who rape.

It sure does ignore them and pretend they don't exist, though.

It's addressing the biggest part of the problem first.

It's imperfect, but it sure as hell isn't straight-up wrong. Male-on-female rape is still the biggest rape demographic.

oh shit. this is going to make it really hard to still like you as a person.

I'm not sure how to respond to comments like this. It has nothing to do with what I actually said and am I going to redact what I said just because some anon says they don't like me anymore?

Also are you making assumptions about my stance on non-male-on-female rape? Because you could ask if you're curious. If you disagree you could try to reason with me. This is a really sensitive and complex topic and I'm always open to learning more.

But just saying "I don't like you now" when I don't even know who you are is both really weird and also really unhelpful.

Why not? Rape jokes apparently condone rape for men
