it's a thought I had based on my realization that I am uncomfortable loosening up around people of other races BECAUSE I'm afraid that I will unintentionally be offensive.

I'm uncomfortable loosening up around people, period, because I'm afraid I'll be offensive, so I check my behavior in pubic and dealing with strangers in ways I don't do in private and when dealing with friends. I thought that kind of social awareness in general was normal and to be encouraged, not neurotic. Because if it's not normal, it would explain a lot about why so many people don't seem to know how to fucking act around each other.
