My big gripe is that the director was going to have a lesbian main character before she realized that trans people were topical and in the news a lot, and she doesn't seem to have done much research or understand what she's talking about. For instance, the main character is a transman, and the director consistently refers to him as a girl.

this movie might be "groundbreaking" twenty or thirty years ago, but its purported "acceptance" rhetoric is EXTREMELY dated
