do you ever get the overwhelming to feeling to pet a dog after looking at pictures online? i've been getting this really badly lately and it's pretty pathetic. i just want to pet a dog, a big fluffy one, really bad. maybe snuggle a bit. i am overwhelmed by how cute and great dogs are everytime i look at them. i am not in a situation where i can keep a dog and this is slowly destroying me on the inside.

Just an idea, but have you thought about searching for local shelters, etc.? County shelters usually run on volunteers and one of the tasks is socializing dogs, i.e. playing with them.
