they were told to change Erica's name with Cora in the scripts for some scenes.

That rubs me the wrong way. I did like Cora though, but I don't see what the point of the show introducing her was when they did almost nothing with her character. Like you said, she didn't get any explanation.

Even when she left, she got a one sentence mention. It was underwhelming.
