That's mostly what I do with the Kindle app on my computer and with my Android phone (the latter using Codex Reader). So, don't feel bad!

The nice thing about the tech is that nobody's judging you because of a bookcover; they just assume you're reading something awesome and diverting. Especially if, like me, you start cackling like a witch over a funny line you just read.

And, hey, there's plenty of fanfic that IS awesome and diverting!
