Moral obligation is different from not being a dick though? The former is a lot more serious than the latter. I don't think you're morally obligated to hold the door open for the person behind you, but it's a dick move not to.

Err, no? Because I hold moral obligation to be something deeper than typical day-to-day interactions. I'm assuming here we're defining "being a dick" as casual rudeness, as opposed to like killing and raping people. I think people should strive to not be dicks, but that's hardly an "obligation".

Ehhhh, depends on how seriously you see moral obligations. Frex some people see them everywhere and flicking a used cigarette butt into the street is breaking a minor one but the obligation to not litter was still there.
