Warrior (sword or axe?)? Rogue? Thief? White mage? Black mage? Red mage? Beast tamer? Summoner? Archer? Dragoon? Machinist?

Are you tank or DPS? Or do you cast buffs/heals?

White mage or beast tamer. Probably buffing or healing oriented.

If I'm in this modern world, then I think the physical job classes are next to useless, except maybe as self defense, but I won't have a weapon so Monk would be the best bet, but still, I don't get into fights so seems like a waste. Being a mage, white or black, means ULTIMATE COSMIC POWERS and I can make a lot of cash. Or at least take James Randi's million dollar magic challenge. Summoner would be cool but that might be taking it a bit too far. I live in London, what would I reasonably do with a Bahamut? Likewise, Beast tamer, I mean I have real life pets... I guess it would depend on what mythical beast I was able to tame. Practical real life reasons limit the options, though, so I'll stick to my kitties.

White Mage or Black mage though is tough! Maybe a nice Red Mage that can do a bit of both. Healing powers would be sweet, but shooting lightning and fireballs from my fingertips sounds like a lot more fun.

I'm usually a tank/warrior in games.

Real world: more tank than warrior.

Though in games I'm either a dps spellcaster or a healer(I like playing the 'keeping the bars up' mini-game in WoW).

Uhh. DPS, Warlock? I only know WoW classes.

If bards can heal, bard. If bards can't heal, red mage. If red mages don't exist, priest/cleric/default healer.

I'm somewhere between a rogue and an archer personally, leaning more towards archer for a fighting style and towards rogue for other general skillsets.

And definitely a DPS/CC character, I'd make an absolutely horrible healer, and while I'd probably be good at tanking if you put me in plate armor, I have no desire to wear full plate. Give me a lot of leather padding and some chain mail and I'm good to go.

What I want to be: Summoner

What I REALLY want to be: That one NPC you really wish you could at least hit who starts you on that obnoxious side quest that you hate, but need to do to get the Magic What's it? to defeat the hidden extra boss that gives you the ULTIMATE THING!

expert with a focus on lore, and a lot of points in stamina.

A rogue. I'm pretty good at manipulating systems as they are, finessing the results I want rather than brute forcing.

I like to play a bit of everything, but as for what I'd actually be...

Maybe white mage, archer or summoner? I'm not sure.

I would be in a supporting role so I would be buffing and healing, and though that's a cool (and necessary) job I might rather be a warrior with a million hit points.

Warrior, Dark Knight, or Black Mage

Might depend on the day.

Definitely a tank though.

Warrior or Thief/Rogue. Oooor Black Mage. I like active classes.

Dragoon, because that's what I main in FFXIV. Sometimes I even tank as Dragoon because my friends are as crazy as I am and enjoy playing the "what can the Dragoon tank?" game with me.

Fighter/Mage. Throw a spell then follow it up with a sword. I like to have some backup healing spells in there, if allowed by the magic system.

In Baldur's Gate I mostly multiclassed as a Fighter-mage. It's possible to multiclass as a fighter-mage-cleric, but a triple multi cuts down weapon slots and I like having two, one for melee and one for ranged. Usually my Charname had a sword and a crossbow.

Dragon Age doesn't have multiclass, but it has specialisations. My favourites are Arcane Warrior, which allows a mage armour, Spirit Healer which is high-level healing, and Battlemage in Awakening for the Draining Aura ability (drains enemies to heal the mage). I usually give Elenaria two swords (double-wielding) and on the other weapon slot a staff. I don't know so much about DA2 and DA:I.
