Sometimes.

I try never to be.

I'm not sure most people can answer this accurately though (I'm probably included in "most people"). People are good at making up rationalizations for why some bad thing they did wasn't really that bad so they're still a generally good person.

"sometimes" is probably accurate for everybody

I think it's perfectly possible to be a bit of an asshole and still be a generally good person.

I think so too. I was paraphrasing the thought process that often goes into trying to explain away assholeish things as not actually assholeish. I really could have made that more clear.

My keyboard is being very frustrating right now so I may disappear.

I wish I was sometimes.

There's not a person on this Earth that isn't at times because no one's perfect, but I try not to be.

Most the time I think I imagine not to be.

More often lately, but I'm working on it.

Everybody's an asshole and everybody needs to put a bullet in their heads and kill themselves and let the next race take over.

Raccoons, probably. But they're bigger assholes than we are, so.

I can be if the situation calls for it. Usually there's a better route to take, though.

As others have said: I don't think I am, and I try not to be, but it's not a question I feel like it's possible to answer with certainty.

Most of the time I'm not, shockingly.

I sure can be if I want to though.

Re: Are you an asshole?

Yes.

I don't care about anyone but myself and the people I love.

The rest of the world could burn as long as myself and those important to me were safe and happy.

It's also why I don't care about any social justice issues that don't affect me. I don't hate anyone. But I don't care about them either. And I wouldn't hesitate to step on them if I had to.

Nor do I feel bad for anything my ancestors did. I would have done the same thing in their position, I'm sure.

Will I admit that it's wrong, unethical, immoral, unfair? Yes, because it is. Do I care or would I change it? No.

Re: Are you an asshole?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-26 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's against my self interest, so no. Would not recommend.

Well, you're smarter than most of the proles the right-wing govt here has convinced to vote for them, mostly by spewing "the refugees are taking your jobs" type racist propaganda.

I can be (usually without realizing it) but I don't think I usually am.

I used to be a lot worse.

I have been, yes. I try to do better now.

Usually. Probably more often than I ought to be or mean to be.
