But really has there been a better Marvel villain? Malekith was boring as fuck and legit had no screentime. Ultron was evil lame Tony incarnate. Bucky was never meant to be evil or villain. Alexander Pierce was just...no. Red Skull was generic "I want to take over the world, and if I can't I'll watch it burn" villain. Ronan was boring in the same vein of Malekith, didn't have enough build up or screen time. Justin Hammer was a weak tech dork. Ivan Vanko was just a pawn with a lame revenge. Obadiah Stane as "the villain who you secretly trusted" was expectable and lame. IM3 was super lame with it's fake villain Mandarin, and Aldrich Killian being a creeper to Pepper and the weird powers which they'll probably try and make us forget about.

I'm not saying Loki's backstory is much better than any of those other villains, but the actor that plays him is charismatic as Loki (and as himself) and given much more screen time; so that's why there is so much fanfic pairing and wobbie-ing him.

But really I feel after CA:WS Stucky and Bucky/everyone and anyone became the new fandom bicycle for MCU. I mean god the way fans freaked about the Disney expo Stucky lines, it's still a big thing and CA: Civil War is going to bring that full circle again.

The MCU sucks at villains. Loki is the only one that works and that's only because sometimes he's not one.
