HOW DARE YOU! :P

But, Winters isn't a bad idea because he is basically the main character. Each episode is dedicated to different characters (or groups of characters) but Winters has the most character-centric episodes and moments.

And I;d agree not being able to tell the characters apart is the problem. I have no problem with it because they all look fairly distinctive (to me). The only ones I can think of looking similar are Speirs and Webster (but personality wise they are completely different).

I had the same problem initially. I think it's because I find it difficult to tell people apart when they're wearing similar clothes, with a great deal of their faces/hair obscured by helmets and stuff.

Read. The. Book.

I, too, gave up after a few episodes because I absolutely could not tell any of them apart and never knew what was happening.

They're not characters though. I guess I felt more emotionally invested because they're real people. They're not how writers decided they should be, they're how their friends remember them.

Maybe I'm weird.

That last episode when they show the actual guys! ;_;

Noooo what are you doing to me.
I don't want to have feelings before midday.

When they reveal who is who I was really surprised at Winters because he's just so humble when he talks about what they did and that he served with the best men. I was like, wait, you can't be that badass and that humble about it.

MWAHAH! ENJOY ALL THE FEELS!

Jesus. Just looking at those pics gives me the feels. I loved BoB. The end, where all the guys were playing baseball just got me so hard. After all that, going home and living your life. It seems to crazy.

I had the same problem with both Band of Brothers and The Pacific. I tried to watch both because I adored Generation Kill, but I couldn't get into either. I just ... didn't really care. I mean, I cared on the level of "oh my god, all of this is utterly horrible and shouldn't happen to anyone". But I didn't care about any of them on an individual level - while GenKill was so great at making me care about every single one of those guys.

As a viewer, I guess I can see that. It's a large cast with a big chunk of night shoots where so much is happening to a bunch of guys in uniform.

As both a wife and a granddaughter to two amazing paratroopers in the 82nd, this secret just makes me sad.

Yeah, I had the same problem. Yet I had no trouble with The Pacific, oddly enough. I really want to give BoB another try, maybe next time I'll keep track of characters by using memory tricks (associating certain people with certain traits).

I thought so as well after 4 eps, but then the 6th changed my opinion entirely on BoB and I now consider the show a masterpiece. You really have to watch all of it to make the right impression - maybe it's just not your kind of a show, but it's definitely cannot be judged by a couple of episodes.
