I don't really care what people feel or do towards 2D because there's no real people involved. 3D(PD) is a little trickier, but while I obviously don't think attraction towards minors should be encouraged and it makes me incredibly uncomfortable when teen celebrities are sexualized, there's not much you can do about attraction as it's involuntary, other than not act on it and maybe avoid sources where's it's likely to pop up.

my thoughts too, good comment

This.

As an anime watcher it's a little disconcerting to realize that some of the girls with srs anime boobs in One Piece are still teenagers (but they're definitely drawn human enough that they ping the ol' attract-dar). :S

Agreed.

I appreciate this secret solely because it actually seems like something that's a secret, unlike most of the secrets here.

Now for the opinion that probably all commenters here are going to have: 2D isn't a real person, so do what you want I suppose, but at the same time it doesn't seem to be healthy to lust after the idea of kids, no matter if they're real or not. Teenage 2D characters, maybe a little grey area (say, 14 or 15+) but younger than that seems seriously unhealthy to me, even if it's just a cartoon.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-27 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Interestingly, lusting after the IDEA of kids is very different from lusting after actual kids. It can be fun to think about the taboo aspects, the emotional dynamics, the fetishization of innocence, etc., but real kids are completely different from all of that, in ways that totally undercut the fun kinky parts of the fantasy.

To put it another way, we learn from Humbert Humbert that no matter how good the sex is, going on a road trip where a 13-year-old GETS TO PICK ALL THE MUSIC will drive you insane. Seriously, imagine trying to do that.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
But Humbert Humbert richly deserves it.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
I completely agree with this. I also find it kind of weird how fandom has become so anti kink-shaming that people won't even acknowledge that there's anything creepy about lusting after child characters.

I'm definitely NOT saying "OMG you're a pedo" just for having these thoughts. But if you like to imagine yourself or any other adult (fictional or otherwise) committing sexual acts with a twelve-year-old? I don't think that's very healthy and I do think it's creepy.

Other anon says it can be fun to think about the taboo aspects. But when the taboo in question hinges on pedophilia or hebephilia, I don't think it should be fun. I don't want to publically shame people who have a kink for fictional depictions of those things, and I don't particularly want to see others ripping into those people either. I do, however, think that if the idea of pedo/hebephilia is something that turns you on, you should be wary of that. Question your interest and keep questioning it. I wouldn't want a person to hate themselves for it, but I also don't think it should be counted as a good thing, or even something neutral.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Except a kink and a sexual attraction are two entirely different things?

I mean if you have a kink for unwilling blowjobs, does that mean you might be gay? Straight? Ace? Attracted mostly to people of a different race? Come on, help me out here. Does unwilling blowjobs fall into the 'might be pedo' umbrella? What about foot fetish? Dacryphilia? Come on, I want a nice powerpoint of each weird fetish and what they say about the people you're attracted to in real life.

A lot of kinks are utterly unrealistic, and some are only semi-realistic in a controlled play-acting session. Rape is a horrible terrible thing, and it's one of the most common kinks, and it doesn't mean the person wants to be raped in real life.

I'd say the fact the OP likes 2D underage characters but not 3D puts it pretty firmly in the kink section.

Or heck, I love vore, and I'm vegetarian! I'm sure most of the non-vegetarians here probably aren't into vore even if they love eating tasty animals. Strangely enough, what you find sexy =/= what you're likely to do in real life.

And my point is: if you find the thought of an adult raping a child sexually arousing, I don't really care how you explain that to yourself or to others. It's still pretty messed up. And furthermore, only in fandom (and comms that cater specifically to pedophilia) is this even a debate. Ask almost ANYONE else their opinion on this issue and they'll look at you like, "why are we even discussing the possibility that this isn't messed up?" Fandom is just at a point right now where the echo chamber is creating extremely skewed percertions of what is perfectly okay and what isn't.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-27 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd hit that kid.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-27 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't relate to the pedophilia, but I also feel creepy lusting after people in their early twenties. And I'm... 26. I don't think I'd feel comfortable dating someone unless they were at least like 23. Is that weird? I'd just rather date someone who is within a year or two of my own age, and I just feel really guilty and can't get over someone being younger than that.

It is and it isn't. The issue isn't your age difference (it's tiny, really!) but their age developmentally. People that age are just really, really young and frequently don't have many life experiences.

I'm 29 and often get mistaken for younger. Someone 21-23 is in my uncreepy age gap range, but they're the age of the students I teach in my TA sections. So... yeah. Probably not going for that. The same person in a couple years probably wouldn't provoke the same reaction. I remember being a 22 year old babywoman and I remember being a 26 year old who knew more.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-27 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think a lot of it for me is the life experiences. A lot of the 21-year-olds I know have just been students since they were five, without ever working a full time job which had to support them and pay bills and such... not that I mean that as a sign of maturity or anything at all, but in my brain, there's like a clear mark between college age and that point in my life, and where I'm at now. Then again, there are students doing masters/phds who are my age and maybe have never been anything but a full time student, too, and that doesn't bother me. So, I don't know, maybe it mostly boils down to the thought of "if we dated five years ago I'd be a sexual predator". :-/

I'm 22, and I feel creepy looking at anyone at twenty! In my case, it's because that's the same age as my younger bros, so I always seem to slot them into "younger sibling" in my head, and it just feels creepy.

Right-- with real people, you have to think about real issues, even if the age gap is only a few years. And depending on the ages of the people involved, it can feel like those are REALLY key years, culturally speaking! A person who's just a few years younger than you could have a completely different set of things that they grew up with, which makes it really easy to feel 'too old' and like the other person is still a 'kid'. I couldn't deal with being the older half of an age gap of just a couple years, because even though the other person would be very much an adult in every sense, they'd still feel so much younger because of all that. That doesn't mean I don't sometimes find someone aesthetically attractive only to find out that they're, like, five years younger than me or so, and then the 'ew nope' kicks in.

(for me, I always wind up getting creeped out when it's, like, supposedly-a-twenty-something love interest who looks twelve, and like in Rune Factory and the like, I always just have to pick the oldest-looking romance options, but just my familiarity with the art style and non-dating games with dating components, I feel like I think I understand what OP is saying? Unless I'm reading it wrong? But I mean, I can see how, depending on the art style, with the lack of detail, there's often not a real difference between younger and older characters-- either it's way-too-developed twelve year olds or it's thirty year olds who look twelve, but either way I mean... an animated teenager looks more like an animated adult than they do a live teen, so w/e)

I have a thing for Austin Mahone. I'm 27, he's 19. Yeah. And it's AUSTIN FREAKIN' MAHONE. Embarrassed doesn't even cut it.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
That's supposed to be a twenty year old?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
It's Japan. That's probably a 12 to 14-year-old kid. 20 would be "ancient"!
