I wish more people would remember that second point. I see people acting like lots of notes on a bad post is proof of the world gone mad all the time. But the way tumblr is set up, you have no idea how many people are reblogging the original in support of it and how many are reblogging a response that's arguing with it or mocking it because it's all included in the same number of notes. Plus you have the people who both like and reblog a post and get counted twice in the notes inflating the numbers.

But then "why doesn't this have more notes?!" is just as annoying as that despairing "look at all the notes this has!"

Yeah, you'd think tumblrites would know how notes are set-up, but I suppose it's easy to kneejerk when there's an awful opinion with a lot of circulation. There's even more ways to manipulate too, like the same person can reblog the same post over and over again or up until recently posts could be edited by someone besides the OP.
