are often assholes trying to make you feel bad on purpose
If you're saying "I'm gonna play devil's advocate" to express views you actually possess but are too much of a coward to own up to, you are a laughable moron. Fuck you also.
Re: are often assholes trying to make you feel bad on purpose
(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 12:18 am (UTC)(link)someone saying 'all ____ is shit and any opposing views are held by laughable morons' makes me want to explain why someone might believe X even if I don't believe X myself
it's usually not for shits and giggles, trolling, or me being a coward, it's me seeing someone spewing a black and white rigid viewpoint and trying to add nuance to the situation
Re: are often assholes trying to make you feel bad on purpose
(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 12:24 am (UTC)(link)^ I didn't mean to imply that you're doing the examples I gave. just providing positive reasons as alternatives to the negative ones
Re: are often assholes trying to make you feel bad on purpose
(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 12:32 am (UTC)(link)I think there's a kind of contrarianism that can be useful, but it is neither of those things, and usually is sincere at least on some level in a way that neither of the styles you cite are.
but seriously " a constant desire to express beliefs you don't actually have in order to provoke an extreme reaction for shits and giggles" is the lamest, weakest-ass shit of all time
Re: are often assholes trying to make you feel bad on purpose
(Anonymous) 2015-08-28 12:34 am (UTC)(link)I'd say that for the most part people just want to feel witty and superior if they're DAing for shits and giggles. Most of the time it's not straight trolling.
