- That going swimming right after eating gives you cramps. (It does mean you may have to make a toilet run, and putting a wet bathing suit back on is really uncomfortable. So I still don't advise it.)

- This one is awful, but I fell for the urban legend that someone got AIDS in a movie theater. (The legend goes that someone sticks a needle in them and whispers "you have HIV.") I later learned it was part of the nasty misconceptions and biases back in the 80's. :/

Oh, I remember the AIDS ones. I believed the one about how you could get it from a toilet seat if someone who had AIDS had sat on it before you.

I still get really uncomfortable if there's someone sitting behind me in the movie theater because of that myth.
