When I was younger (teens - university age) and had a lot more free time/could bounce back from long trips more easily I went to several a month. The funny thing is I have more money now so if I did that now I wouldn't be counting my pennies but I'm knackered after just one night out, plus I have work commitments. I know I could use my time off but I'd rather use that for actual holidays rather than following a band around. Basically getting older and responsibility got me good!

Like OP I got a handful of VIP passes for a couple of my favorite bands back in the day but I still got really bratty over gigs I couldn't go to because I had exams or whatever. Teenagers eh? Now I feel sad about stuff I couldn't go to so I get what OP is saying because I think: shouldn't I be grateful for the experiences I did have? I miss having the time and energy sometimes.
