yuhuh, hes basically all the fangirls dream boy cos hes got goggles, he smokes and he plays games. dear god.. matt and the shameless mary sues of doom. :|

i think matt is also so popular cos tbh, later on in the series theres a lack of conventially attractive characters cos honestly light just screams crazy now, near just no, mikami is just evil looking and mello got melted. D:

Well uh, Light and Matt do sort of look the same, so...|D; And Mello's hotter melted, imho. (lolol@near just no ahaha)

Okay, on topic: Matt is projected as a wise-cracking opposite to Mello? I usually see him as either apathetic, super-loyal, or just a funny normal gamer :x Are we reading different fics and seeing different fanarts? One of my personal favorite, though rare, Matts is the straight, best-buddies-with-Mello one, but let's not get into that now lmao

And honestly I think he does have a personality, it's just not as big and quirky a one as the characters he's presented against (seriously, how would any of US compare to a gun-toting leather-wearing Mafia leader with an inferiority complex and a chocolate fetish? or a puzzle-obsessed albino who refuses to walk unless absolutely necessary? or a mad genius who wants to take over the world and believes himself to be a god? and I won't even START with L. I mean...COME ON.) Matt's just a pretty normal, relatively intelligent guy who likes games, smokes and wears strange clothes who helps out his childhood friend. That's all DN canon. I don't see how that equals "no personality." Then again, I might besomewhat biased. *shrug*
