What whumpalicous shows (or movies, or books) that you watched as a kid would you say played an important role in starting - or making you recognize - your love of whump and hurt/comfort? (If you're into that of course. If you're not into it, disregard this thread.)

I think it was the graveyard scene in the Goblet of Fire book. Because my first whump/torture obsession was Harry Potter or sometimes Hermione Granger (never in an attracted sense, more in a relating to this character and reading about them being miserable helps me deal with my own issues).

Oh my god. I never would have put that together but...same.

Dragon Ball Z. Specifically, Vegeta getting beat up by Frieza. Honestly...that gave me a lot of confusing feelings....

Same, lol.

The scene where he grinds the rock onto his stomach and the one where he chokes him with his tail....

It's been so long since I've seen the series, but now I really feel like a rewatch is in order.

I got them all on DVD!

Disney Disney Disney. I always liked it whenever the protagonist in a Disney movie would start crying, and stuff like Maleficent tying the prince up and gloating in his face... actually, whenever it seemed really hopeless for the good guys and the villains would gloat over them.

American history X was the first bit of male-as-victim violence I masturbated to.

That is some sexy prison-suffering he does in that.

The Edward Eager books "Half Magic" and "Magic By The Lake." Especially the chapter where they're captured by cannibals.

Does anyone remember the Freddy the Pig books by Walter R. Brooks? Because yeah, THOSE. Like, holy shit.

I mean, there definitely are things that fit that bill. I just can't remember them because I didn't mark them at the time and because I'm generally on the repressed side.

Huh... I don't know. I may have done this to myself, and it may have been a way of coping with childhood abuse. I mean, I would never think of enjoying that level of hurt with someone in real life, but I notice in a LOT of my fanfiction, there is some hardcore hurt/comfort, and in recent years, some serious whumping. I always considered fanfic an outlet, but maybe some subconscious shit also crept into it.

Comic books. So many characters getting tied up and whumped in them. I'm pretty sure I got my mind control kink from them, too.
