Fair food

(Anonymous) 2015-08-29 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Fair season is starting up so my sister sent me a list of new Fair Food for our state fair. I think my artery's clogged from reading the list.

Bacon wrapped donut burger – A burger with two doughnut buns that is wrapped in bacon. It is located at Porky’s.
Boneless rib parfait – Hickory-smoked, boneless ribs with barbecue sauce and fresh mashed potatoes. It is located at Porky’s.
Brisket parfait – Hickory-smoked brisket with barbecue sauce and mashed potatoes. It is located at Porky’s.
Cheese corn dog – A corn dog covered in cheese that is dipped in batter and deep-fried. It is found at Browns Concessions.
CocoFlow deep-fried ‘chocolate’ – A flaky pastry filled with Belgian chocolate and fried, topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. It is found at CoCoFlow.
Deep-fried banana pudding – Cinnamon and sugar rolled banana wrapped in a light pastry and deep-fried. You can find it at Chef Rays Street Eats.
Deep-fried chocolate covered bacon – Three thick maple bacon strips covered in chocolate, dipped into funnel cake batter and deep-fried. It is found at the Sweet Shop.
Deep-fried coffee – Cinnamon roll dough that is infused with Starbucks ground coffee and chocolate chips. It is found at Sweet Shop.
Mexican funnel cake – Churros are woven together to form a funnel cake-like dessert. Topped with whipped cream, strawberries, caramel or chocolate at The Bacon Habit.
S’mores cinnamon roll – Cinnamon roll is filled with fluffy marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate and cinnamon. It is available at the Sweet Shop.
Waffle burger – A fried egg, bacon, cheese, syrup and a beef patty between two waffles. It is located at Porky’s.

What is the worst fair food you have eaten? Worst for your health or just worst tasting. How did you enjoy the worst for your health?

The only bad thing I've ever eaten was a fried oreo. It was okay.

My only problem with fair food right now is that OKLAHOMA IS A TERRIBLE FUCKING PLACE THAT DOES NOT SELL REAL CANDIED APPLES AT THEIR FAIRS.

I don't want this caramel bullshit.

<-GROSS!

I want a REAL one but they don't sell them here.

Someone send me one. D::::

They used to have kits to make your own, those are the melted cinnamon candy apples, yes? Maybe try your local groceries, in the Halloween candy section, I seem to recall seeing them there.

Nah, they are not cinnamon. I am not sure what flavor they are exactly. The flavor of awesomeness. I have tried the at home kits but it just isn't the same. ;_;

Oh bummer! My mom would always make a big batch of the cinnamon ones for the school Halloween carnival every year.

Good luck finding the right ones!

I agree with a lot of your opinions but not this one, I love caramel apples.

We can't be friends anymore, you caramel apple lover.

Now I'm so hungry

The most fair food thing I've had is a fried oreo. Which is really tasty, but it also made my arteries hurt it was so fattening. And I'm a massive fatass.

The actual best food I've ever had is a roast chicken sandwich. Because it tasted fucking amazing. Just really flavorful chicken, this really great spicy slaw, on a really amazing roll. Just good stuff.

Best food I've had at a fair, I mean.

Re: Fair food

(Anonymous) 2015-08-29 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Worst things: the chicken and waffle slider (a slider is a mini sandwich, usually a burger but not always) and garlic fries. The waffle was stale and hard and the chicken was overcooked and dry. And the garlic fries were cold and soggy. I got both of these at Levis Stadium in Santa Clara, CA., so they cost a small fortune on top of being shitty.

Re: Fair food

(Anonymous) 2015-08-29 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's probably best never to go to Levi's, for any reason whatsoever

I was unimpressed with Levis, tbh. AT&T Park is so, so much nicer, and their garlic fries are the shit.

worst garlic fries I ever had weren't at a fair, they were at a restaurant. I ordered garlic fries and was given a plate of really shitty burned fries and handed a container of garlic salt.

Holy shit that is the worst lol

Re: Fair food

(Anonymous) 2015-08-29 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
worst for my health was probably chocolate-covered cheesecake on a stick (but fuck it, I don't care, it was good)

I wouldn't say I had a worst tasting dish, but once I did share a plate of fresh fried potato chips smothered in nacho cheese and ketchup. I was probably hungry as hell at the time so I didn't care, but in hindsight, it just grosses me out now.

My dad and I go to the fair every year and I always get the same thing: a corndog, lemonade, and then later, a funnel cake.

Unhealthy, I know, but not all that weird by fair standards.

I've never tried any of the super crazy stuff and don't want to.

Is it just a corn dog? If so, around here, we call them Pronto Pups. And I dunno why, but they always taste ten times better than corn dogs. I dunno if it's the grease they're cooked in or the outside air or what, but I fucking love them.

I've never had a Corno dog so I'm not sure if they taste similar? Dagwood is basically a savaloy dipped in batter and fried. Sooooo gooood. And like the size of my ARM hell yeah.

....just give me a funnel cake and a barbecue sauce covered smocked turkey leg and I'm good.

Also, I've been too grossed out and such to even try things like deep fried candy bars or deep fried butter.

Ugh. This all sounds disgusting.

I'll stick with cotton candy, thanks. That and candy apples are pretty much the only things I ever get at fairs.

lol going to my state fair on Sunday, worst for my health was probably either the Fudge Puppy (belgian waffle on a stick dipped in chocolate sauce and with whipped cream and sprinkles on top) or the deep fried oreos. Fudge puppies are awesome, the oreos were not (too overwhelmingly sweet).

Best fair food: SWEET CORN, corn dogs, frozen grapes, the apple cider otter pops they sell out of the ag/hort barn, Sweet Martha's chocolate chip cookies dipped in the milk they sell across the street, that one year the middle eastern stall had deep-fried camel.

Pronto Pups are the most disgusting wannabe corndogs a fair has ever produced.

I'm doing it wrong. I want the grilled cheese sandwiches but the basic kind (not the mac 'n cheese grilled cheese kind which while it sounds awesome, not for me). I got the munster cheese on cinnamon raisin bread this year and it was pretty awesome! Though I missed my standard swiss on rye, this was nice.
