Yeah, this. It made me really sad to read that OP thinks nobody would give a shit outside of MRAs (who, like you said, are not a good place to be). :(

It made me sad to read that op is another feminist ally who thinks feminism needs to stop helping women to focus on men. FFS, feminism is a women's rights movement dedicated to promoting equality for women

OP never said a fucking word that could lead to that conclusion. Not a fucking word. And in fact they explicitly rejected that point of view.

There's nothing wrong with somebody needing emotional support and wanting to talk about the issues that concern them. We don't need to fucking find a reason it's politically unacceptable to want those things, for God's sake. You are fucking terrible.

So if you're taking his word for what he want's from feminism, what is it he's accusing feminism doing wrong? What is he trying to say feminism is lacking that's making him turn to the MRA?

I would assume that the reason feminism turns up in the conversation is because the MRA is an almost explicitly anti-feminist movement.

So what he's saying is that, despite the fact that it's incompatible with his feminist beliefs, he's still found emotional comfort in the fact that the MRA speaks for him in a certain way. And the problem is that the only movement he can find that provides that is one that's explicitly anti-feminist - that there's no place that's amenable to feminism but that still fulfills those things.

But feminists ALWAYS talk about how men should be feminists because feminism helps men too. But...if it doesn't, what is wrong with men creating a group to work on men's issues?

And - what's more - given the vehement and correct insistence that feminism is basically a movement for women's liberation, how could anyone possibly object?
