lolling on the basis of the fact that somebody legitimately just made such a reply ITT

Where?

It made me sad to read that op is another feminist ally who thinks feminism needs to stop helping women to focus on men. FFS, feminism is a women's rights movement dedicated to promoting equality for women

I mean, it's not literally the exact words BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MENZZZZZ but the content is essentially precisely the same

Re: I'm not an MRA.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-29 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think that's the same.

What precisely is the god damned difference

Re: I'm not an MRA.

Because no-one is saying he's not allowed his feelings, they're complaining that, like all MRAs, he expects feminism to prioritise his feelings.

He's in no way saying that. The most he's saying is that he wants to talk about his feelings.

Re: I'm not an MRA.

That's just not how it reads to me, and obviously I'm not alone in that.

Re: I'm not an MRA.

Right, I'm just not sure how on earth you can legitimately read it this way. He explicitly says it's right and good and okay that feminism doesn't prioritize men's issues. But he does have some issues that the MRA movement speaks to in a way that feminism doesn't (and - you and I would agree, and I think OP as well - feminism should not).

Now, those needs don't disappear simply because they're not the focus of feminism. Nor does feminism need to address them. But it is valid to want them addressed and to be interested in things that speak to those needs, because all human beings have emotional needs and problems.

So to characterize that position as "wanting feminism to focus more on men" is, to me, indistinguishable from "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MENZ".

Why should we be expected to have to carry the burden of his feelings?

Re: I'm not an MRA.

This is clearly a forum that's okay with people asking for support with their fucked-up feelings in their fucked-up lives. I'm not sure why this is any different.

Nobody has suggested anything like that, you sick, hateful fuck.
