Urkel crossed the line from "unaware child" to "deliberate creep" around the 6000th time he barged into Carl's house and harassed his daughter, despite both of them yelling at him to stop for years.

Exactly. Urkel isn't endearing, he's creepy. He bothered and showered Laura with unwanted attention for years until she broke down and married him. I can't stand him.

"Urkel isn't endearing, he's creepy."

Agreed. I find that for a socially awkward or clueless character with a crush to be endearing, they have to care more about their crush's happiness and well being than their desire to be with them. Otherwise? Yeah they're creepy (Sheldon from My Life as a Teenage Robot comes to mind) And creepy isn't bad if that's what you're going for.

But when combined with the author trying to tell the audience that they're supposed to be on this character's SIDE? Then....it's a trainwreck.

I was thinking of watching My Life as a teenage Robot. Good, bad?

The show is good. It really is. The Sheldon thing is a minor subplot that crops up every once in awhile and some of it can be a bit..uuh...cringy.

One thing that stuck in my head was the throwaway gag when she found out Urkel used her exact body measurements for his locker combination. It's like, canned studio laughter, but I'm sitting there as a grade school kid going, "...uhhh."
