In canon, fallen heroes and well-intentioned extremists - the sort of villain that hammers home the fact that heroism isn't just about the goal, it's about how you go about reaching it.

In fandom, anything but that, because it's almost guaranteed that a huge and vocal chunk of fandom will wildly and loudly miss the point.
