I think it's a writer thing...or potential writers...or crazy people. Like mine don't talk to me, but for stories I'm writing they'll talk to each other and flesh out scenes while I'm out and about. They've never saved my life...but wanting to get those characters out into the world and get the stories done does give me a sense of purpose.
