*applauds* Thank you. The people who think Light was right scare me -- not in the usual OH NOES SERIAL KILLER WANNABE sense, but in the sense of 'you actually think you're qualified to make decisions like that?'

I agree with you. He was wrong, even if he had good intentions in the beginning. As i'm so fond of saying... the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. And even though it's an over used phrase, i really think it holds true for DN as a whole.

I hope at least some of you guys end up realizing that the wold isn't in black and white, and that it's ridiculous to try to divide people into two groups; SHOULD LIVE and SHOULDN'T LIVE.

You do realise that by saying that you're saying that Light was evil, which means you're seeing it as black and white as well. I don't think Light was completely evil, at least not at the beginning. I can't say I agree with what he did, but I understood his intentions, cause he thought he was doing the right thing. But of course, after a while, he completely lost his mind, thinking he was a god and all that, but it wasn't the case at first.

I agree that saying you'd use a Death Note if you found one is crazy, but I don't understand all the hate for Light. If anything, I almost felt sorry for him.

Well then I guess I agree with you. I must have read your comment wrong, but maybe it was the tone that threw me off. That and the fact that there was a shitload of comments saying stuff like "Light was an evil bastard, he got what he deserved, etc." and I thought they weren't even worth replying to.

But then I saw that you used the "black and white" thing, and I've seen so many people say that and not realise that they were being judgmental as well that I kinda hoped that's not what you were saying. Glad I was wrong.

That said, I agree that Light was a very well written character, and I hate the fact that some people just see L and Light as the good guy and the bad guy, while I think it's really not that simple. I think that's why I hated the second part of Death Note. I didn't care so much to see Light "get what he deserved" like most people. I think what was interesting was Light and L trying to outsmart each other, and to see the contrast in what they thought was right. And even though L is technically the good guy, I don't think he was perfect either. His methods were not exactly what I would call "right". They just had different views on the whole thing.

And I'm not saying I see Light as admirable either, just that it's stupid to go "OMG YOU'RE SICK" every time someone says that Light wasn't 100% wrong.

Yeah I get you. And I know you didn't call people sick or anything, but other people did, and I just think it's sad that they're like "Light was a psycho and he deserved to die", but by saying that, they're agreeing with Light in the sense that he believed that criminals deserved to die. Makes no sense, right?

And I'm not saying that Light wasn't wrong (and that's not what I got from the secrets either, at least not the second one), just that he wasn't 100% wrong. He just wanted to do what was right, really. It's just that he was naïve to think that killing criminals would make the world better. That's why I was saying that I kind of felt sorry for him.

What I'm saying is that I agreed with his intentions, but not his methods. Heck, I'm even against death penalty, so I'm far from saying that he was right to kill criminals. So I don't think it's right to assume that everyone who says they somewhat agreed with Light thinks he was right to do that.

Also, I hate the fact that people keep saying that you missed the point if you think that Light was right. Thinking that L was right is also missing the point, in my opinion.
