I really don't understand it either. I mean, just because you've seen it on stage doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. Some people just don't have the money. And some people don't live near places where they show these productions.

Most wank over movie musicals, especially Sweeney Todd, is really undeserved. If anything, I say the movie verisons are BETTER, because there are some things that you just can't do on stage.

So what it comes down to then is that they're rich snobs. WEAK.

Mmmm I never want to say better because no matter what a film can do it can't capture the thrilling feeling of a live production. It's just a different good...just like every theatre production will be different. There is no 'one way' to do a show, a movie is just another way—a way that can use different special effects and techniques.

So, I really don't get this snobbery of 'the Broadway way', it's not the be all and end all, just one attempt, like the movie being just another attempt.
