I was never a Mulder/Scully shipper and I still like "The Field Where I Died" for similar reasons. It was just too heavy handed about the whole past lives/soulmates thing and while I'm not usually a huge stickler for continuity the fact that it's sooooooo significant but never came up before and never comes up again cheapens the effect.
